NQF Colloquium "Decolonisation and the NQF: Way forward"

As part of SAQA's commitment to sustain research that underpins and informs NQF policy development and implementation, including the decolonisation and indigenisation of curricula, education, training, and professional development, SAQA hosted the NQF Colloquium "Decolonisation and the NQF: Way forward", on 13 February 2018 at the Kopanong Hotel and Conference Centre, Benoni, Gauteng.
The purpose of the event was:
(a) to understand the current “decolonisation” debates, and
(b) to develop shared notions of the implications of "Africanisation" in the NQF context.

SAQA Chairperson's Lecture- 2018

The Chairperson’s Lectures – initiated in 2003 – are part of SAQA’s commitment to sustain and communicate evidence-based research that informs the implementation and further development of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
SAQA hosted the 2018 Chairperson’s Lecture. “Considering the meaning of ‘occupational’ and ‘vocational’ qualifications” on 12 February 2018 at the Kopanong Hotel and Conference Centre, Benoni, Gauteng.
The purpose of the Lecture was to enhance conceptual clarity, and to contribute to current thinking around the meaning of ‘occupational’ and ‘vocational’ qualifications, with a view to informing related policy development.

NQF Research Seminar on Articulation

SAQA hosted an NQF Research Seminar “Understanding the National Articulation Baseline Study Findings” on 30 January 2018 at the Kopanong Hotel and Conference Centre, Benoni, Gauteng.
The purpose of the event was to:
Share findings from the National Articulation Baseline Study which made visible the articulation driven by the 26 public Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and 50 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges.
Share in depth, (a) three province-wide articulation initiatives; (b) the successes/challenges of a UoT with formal Memoranda of Understanding with 21 TVET Colleges; (c) the successes/challenges of a university partnering with all TVET Colleges to offer Higher Certificates; and (d) patterns re learners with NCV qualifications admitted to HEI; and
Agree on a set of principles/criteria for success in articulation initiatives.
