SPECIALIST: FOREIGN QUALIFICATION EVALUATION (VERIFICATION AND COMPARISON)

Objective: The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) is a statutory public entity that operates under the NQF Act, No. 67 of 2008. SAQA seeks to appoint a Specialist: Foreign Qualification Evaluation (Verification and Comparison). The successful candidate will coordinate and participate in the process flow that leads to the evaluation of foreign qualifications as submitted by clients. Provide knowledge, systems, and resource support to the core function for the benefit of the processing environment, including the comparison work once verification has been completed. Requirements are:
  • The most eligible candidate must hold an appropriate recognised qualification at NQF Level 6 on the 10 Level NQF, or equivalent.
  • An NQF Level 7 qualification on the 10-Level NQF with would be advantageous.
  • A minimum of 2 yearsā€™ supervisory experience is required.
  • The successful candidate should have at least 3 yearsā€™ of experience in working with large relational databases.
  • Project management, people management, relationship management, good communication (written and oral), problem-solving, and time management should be among the strengths of those aspiring for this appointment.
  • The incumbent must have good knowledge of SA Education & Training Legislation with good knowledge of the South African NQF landscape, information management, and verification standards, knowledge management, use of ICT in business process and relationship management skills.
Key performance areas:
  • Monitor, guide, and perform the end-to-end evaluation processes in accordance with standard operating procedures, quality parameters, and timeframes.
  • Ensure that the service rendered through the evaluation function meets expectations and is continuously improved.
  • Ensure effective links with and quality service to other functions in the unit and the organisation.
  • Ensure the accurate compilation/verification of daily statistical reports.
  • Monitor the ongoing availability and efficiency of systems and technology and ensure that these are integrated and participate actively in testing system solutions.
  • Attend to standard and non-standard client queries, complaints, and requests in accordance with processes and procedures.
  • Do investigation and source information to inform the understanding of strategic and operational issues and meaningful decision-making.
  • Manage work of subordinate staff to ensure that productivity outputs are met.

SAQA will verify credit and criminal records as well as qualifications.
