Objective: The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) is a statutory public entity that operates under the NQF Act, No. 67 of 2008. SAQA seeks to appoint a Practitioner: Office Travel Desk on a 24 Months Fixed-Term Contract. The successful candidate will assist the Supply Chain Management sub-unit in organising travel and hospitality services for the organisation. This means the day-to-day organising and management of the end-to-end travel and hospitality plans for the organisation efficiently and cost-effectively. Requirements are:
  • The most eligible candidate must hold an appropriate recognised qualification at NQF Level 5 on the 10 Level NQF in Hospitality, Travel, Tourism, Business or related with 1-year experience as a travel agent or related field.
  • An NQF level 6 in Hospitality, Travel, Tourism, Business or related, with more than 1 year of work experience as a travel agent or related field would be advantageous.
  • The incumbent must have good knowledge of visa application sites and centres, experience with international travel regulations, customs and currencies and knowledge of the National Treasury Framework on Travel.
  • Computer Literacy, Time Management, customer focus, attention to detail and good written and verbal communication should be the strengths of those aspiring for this appointment.
Key performance areas:
  • Preparing travelling/hospitality arrangements and reporting.
  • Manage end-to-end travel and hospitality (catering, accommodation, car hire, shuttle services) plans for the organization efficiently and cost-effectively ā€“ airlines, trains, transport and hotels.
  • Handle visa applications and formalities such as passport validity requirements.
  • Work closely with the appointed travel agent every time there are travel occurrences.
  • Provide relevant travel information, brochures and publications (guides, local customs, maps, regulations, events etc.) to travellers.
  • Update Finance and People Management on travel/leaves to be properly recorded.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with the relevant Legislation, Policies and Procedures and Internal Controls (Risk Management).
  • Ensure compliance with international travel regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Treasury framework on travel.

SAQA will verify credit and criminal records as well as qualifications.
