Foreign institutions in this context are an institution that offers a qualification to a student/learner outside South Africa in line with a foreign country’s education and training system.  

Who can apply? 

This service is for individuals who want to check the accreditation status of a foreign institution. 

Important Information: 

  1. The purpose of this service is to give some direction regarding accredited and non-accredited foreign institutions. 
  2. For information pertaining to the accreditation status of South African institutions and their qualifications. Please go to the following links: https://www.dhet.gov.za  or https://regqs.saqa.org.za/search.php?cat=qual   
  3. This is a free service and only confirms the accreditation status of an institution, and not the accreditation status of the programme. 
  4. SAQA bases the advice of this service on information currently available to it.  SAQA reserves the right to change this advice should other authoritative information come to its attention. 
  5. SAQA does not pre-evaluate foreign qualifications, it is your responsibility to check whether the qualification you are interested in or have acquired falls within the formal national education and training system of the country you intend studying. 
  6. You cannot appeal the advice provided from this service.
