Application for an Appeal
This service is for individuals who have been issued with a SAQA evaluation outcome/results which the applicant does not agree with.
This process is based on the Policy and Criteria for Evaluating Foreign Qualifications within the South African NQF (as amended, 2024, which also outlines the steps to be followed by an appellant.
- An applicant can only lodge an appeal within 90 calendar days from date of the SAQA evaluation outcome/results sent by email to an applicant.
- A non-refundable fee is charged per qualification submitted.
- Processing time: 60 days once a compliant application is received
- Comparison outcome: This outcome results in the issuing of a SAQA Certificate of Evaluation (SCoE) indicating how the qualification is recognised in terms of a comparable South African qualification registered on the SA NQF.
- Verification outcome: This outcome results in SAQA authenticating the status of institutions and the qualifications offered by them; and investigate the authenticity of qualification documents and the awards made to individuals.
Only qualification holders (QH) can apply for an appeal. This means that no appeal application will be accepted if submitted by a third party such as an immigration agent, employer, lawyer, etc.

- Download and complete the Appeal registration form.
- Pay the relevant Appeal application fee.
- Stage 1 Appeal fee – R2 320,00
- Stage 2 Appeal fee – R3 480,00
- Compile evidence that supports your appeal (This applies to stage 1 appeals only).
- Submit your appeal application to foreignapplications@saqa.org.za quoting your SAQA reference number. Attaching Appeal registration form, proof of payment and supporting evidence.
