SAQA verification services resume
On 23 March 2020, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a nationwide lock-down from midnight on 26 March to combat the spread of Covid-19. The President urged all residents to stay home to avoid the potential catastrophic spread of the pandemic in South Africa. As a result, the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) closed from 16:00 on Thursday, 26 March.
The verification of South African national qualifications has re-opened, and requests for verification will be done electronically. The requests should be submitted to the following mailboxes:
- Requests for verification by employers that signed a verification agreement with SAQA should be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org
- Requests for personal verification letters for individuals that can be legalised by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) should be sent to: email@example.com
The verification service staff are working remotely, and the SAQA building is still not accessible to the public. All contact during the lock-down period will be done by email.
Verification letter clients will receive an electronic copy of the letter by email, and the original can be collected from the SAQA agent at the following address:
