This Bulletin looks into the journey of qualifications frameworks. At the time of publishing, the South African National Qualifications Framework had been in existence for two decades. For this reason, the Bulletin reflects on the valuable lessons learnt from two decades of implementation. Qualification frameworks must adapt to the demands of a changing world. Their efficacy should also be assessed in the context of sustainable development. Therefore, the Bulletin includes an analysis of qualifications frameworks in the global arena as well as sectoral and regional qualifications frameworks. It also outlines some features of future frameworks.
