Professor Talvin Gregory Schultz
Professor Schultz is currently retired. He joined the Faculty of Science at the University of the Western Cape in 1982. He revamped the Institutional Statute of the then University of Bophuthatswana after its incorporation in 1994 and oversaw Vista University’s closure as well as its pension and provident fund between 2002 and 2004. After the Council of Higher Education training, he participated in public higher education institutional audits in 2006 and 2008, and chaired the 2011 institutional audit panel of the Mangosuthu University of Technology.
Professor Schultz also led “Sustainable development at CUT” as an integrated research and teaching project in partnership with Aalen University, Germany, from 2010 until 2012. He established the CUT Enterprises Trust, as the commercial hub and platform for the Central University of Technology, Free State, in 2011. He served on the Board of the National Tertiary Retirement Fund between 2010 and 2012.
He also led and facilitated the re-design and integrated governance operations of the University of Zululand’s cooperative governance framework in 2015. Professor Schultz has a Master of Science degree from the University of Western Cape and a Doctor of Philosophy (Mathematics) degree from the University of Stellenbosch. He was also a member of the 5th SAQA Board and chaired SAQAs’ Research Committee since 2011.
