Dr Shamrita Devi Bhikha
Dr Bhikha is an independent consultant specialising in capacity building initiatives focusing on education, training and development generally, and accreditation and quality assurance specifically. She started her career as a high school Science teacher, after which she was appointed as a lecturer in Science Education at Springfield College of Education, and the University of Durban-Westville respectively. She served in various roles at the Gauteng Department of Education and the National Department of Education.
She assumed the role of Director: Standards Setting and Development at SAQA between 2005 and 2008. From October 2008 to June 2016 she served as Head of (Chief Director) Accreditation at the Public Administration Leadership and Management Academy (PALAMA)/National School of Government. At the National School of Government, she also served as the Head (Chief Director) of Quality Assurance from 2011 to 2016. She presently serves as a Board member of the Centre for the Advancement of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (CASME).
Dr Bhikha is also a member of the Accreditation Committee of the UMALUSI Council. Dr Bhikha holds a PhD in Education Policy Studies which she obtained from the University of Pretoria in 2004.
