LegislationSAQA was originally established by an Act of Parliament, the SouthAfrican Qualifications Authority Act No 58 of 1995. The Regulations under the SAQA Act are the NSB Regulations 452 of 28 March 1998 and the ETQA Regulations 1127 of 8 September 1998. These are available in all the eleven official languages. The South African Qualifications Authority has, under section 14 of the South African Qualifications Authority Act, 1995 (Act No. 58 of 1995), with the approval of the Minister of Education and in consultation with the Minister of Labour, made the Level Descriptors 1 to 4 Regulations in the Schedule. There are a number of Acts and policy documents issued by the Department of Education andthe Department of Labour which relate to the work of SAQA. Legislation Matters This is a booklet containing a set of legislation that was promulgated following the conclusion of the NQF Review in 2008. This legislation is aimed at addressing the allocation of responsibility, resolving tensions among important role-players, and simplifying the NQF apparatus in order to speed up the achievement of NQF objectives.
