Professional Body Recognition and Professional Designation Registration

The Directorate Registration and Recognition (DRR) of SAQA is responsible for the evaluation and processing of applications by professional bodies wishing to be recognised by SAQA for the purposes of the NQF Act.

The Policy & Criteria for Recognising a Professional Body and Registering a Professional Designation for the Purposes of the National Qualifications Framework Act, Act 67 of 2008, which was approved by the SAQA Board on 27 June 2012 and promulgated in the Government Gazette on 27 July 2012, can be accessed here.

Professional bodies wanting to be recognised are to complete the Intention to be Recognised by SAQA as a Professional Body, which can be accessed here. SAQA will thereafter contact the professional body to initiate the evaluation process.
